Process of the map making
Description
We started off by forming a group and chose the topic of body gestures. Quite soon we decided that we wanted to focus on how to use your body when giving a presentation because this is something we do a lot in our majors. We started making a map which was mainly textual and based on a survey we did, this was a good beginning place but we also saw that we wanted to take it a bit further with also some visual aspects.
That is when we created our final map with a nice and clear visual and compared our experiences compared to the norm which is found on the internet.

On the internet, you can find a lot of tips on how to give a good presentation. However, the tips about body language and body gestures are quite hard to find. For example, where do you put your hands when presenting or what to do with your feet? What is the best way to stand? But they mainly focus on what you shouldn't do.

We've created a map which shows you the norm in information about presenting compared to our own experiences, this is meant to be a tool for people who are going to give a presentation and aren't sure what posture/gestures to use. The comparison between the norm and experience also creates better information which helps greatly when people want to present.

Because our mayor is Fine art and Teacher training, this topic is very important for us because we face our body gestures almost daily when we teach. Therefore it was really good to do more research about this topic so we could understand our body more and use it better when presenting. Besides that, the map is also quite clear and easy to read which means it could also be found back in a textbook later for students to learn about it.

The way we divided the tasks was that Renee did: the hot glue website, the graph commons map, the video script. Ellen: Research about body gestures & the norm, visual map, putting the video together.
